The wide sand beach, which is 5 km long and up to 100 m wide, is considered to be the most beautiful beach of the German Baltic Sea coast. With no stones, protected from the wind, and great for children, it provides relaxing swimming enjoyment.
The snow-white sand and the crystal clear water of the Prerow inlet, which glistens green and blue in the sunlight, occasionally give a Mediterranean impression. To the west of Prerow is the earthy Darß forest with the wild Weststrand beach and its completely different character. Prerow has two small craft ports. One is in Ottosee, a Baltic Sea inlet to the north of Prerow, and one in Prerowstrom with access to the Bodden.
The former seafarer and fisherman village of Prerow can look back at more than 100 years of tradition as a bathing resort. The different climatic zones of the Baltic Sea, Darß forest, the Bodden and meadow landscapes give the Baltic Sea resort a spa-like character. Its expansiveness and the old stands of trees give Prerow an unmistakable look.
A promenade with cafes, restaurants, and shops leads to the 395 m long pier. You can immerse yourself in the regional history in our Darß museum. From the geological development to a presentation of the development of the resort character, you will be given an impression of our crafts and cultural tradition. Regular cabaret events in the Kulturkaten or in the worthwhile Sailors’ Church and the many festivals held year-round guarantee a varied stay.
The location is surrounded by the “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft” national park and is therefore a good starting point for exploration tours by foot or bicycle. Through the earthy Darß forest, you can reach the Darß lighthouse and the wild and romantic Weststrand beach where the unimpeded forces of nature can be experienced in an impressive way.
