Peer at the Baltic Sea

A typical Baltic Sea photograph motif – and much more beautiful in reality: the piers. The longest pier in continental Europe is 508 metres long and has been in Heringsdorf since 1995. In neighbouring Ahlbeck, you can find the oldest pier on the island dating back to 1898. Bansin and Zinnowitz also have their own piers. Have a day just to peer!

Usedom on Two Wheels

You merely have to decide where to go on your trip: along the promenade, through the coastal forest, or just take off in the large 150 km network of developed cycling trails. Everywhere is beautiful and hopefully you will be there long enough...

Double the Sailing Experience

You can not only get to know the island of Usedom from another side on the Achterwasser, but you can sail on a rarity: the almost one hundred year old, 46 metre long, two-masted schooner called the “Weisse Düne”.

The Sea at Your Doorstep

This trip is the guests’ first obligation (and enjoyment): strolling along the sea with beautiful views either right on the magnificent sand beach with a view of the water and the coast, or along the splendid seaside resort promenade that connects the imperial spas.

Royal Heringsdorf

Crown prince Wilhelm Friedrich gave the fishing village its name in 1820, and thereafter it proceeded to become the “Nice of the north” in the second half of the century. One wealthy Berliner after another built beautiful villas here. The most beautiful and splendid examples of resort architecture can be found in Delbrück and Puschkinstraße.

Grand History

It is in fact not on Usedom, but the Hanseatic and university town of Greifswald and home town of the painter Caspar David Friedrich is well worth the trip. The cathedral, the Church of Mary (Marienkirche), and the marketplace with the Gothic town hall and north German middle-class houses are quite simply impressive.

Golf at Balmer Lake

The Balmer Lake golf course with its 18-hole championship course and an additional 9-hole green is not far from Heringsdorf and Bansin. Hotel guests are given a green fee reduction. Tip: from hole 9 yellow, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Achterwasser.

Trip into Space

First, rockets were developed there; then it was a restricted military zone and deep sea port. Today, in the old industrial facilities, you can find out everything about the history and also the historical and international development of space travel to date and then marvel at the rockets, aircraft, and a submarine in the outside area.

Simply Stay Here

Actually, you’re here to take a break. So, just stay where you are. Enjoy beach life and a good book; have heavenly dreams above the sea. That is what it is all about.

See Seven Lakes

Did you know that there are many inland lakes on Usedom, which are cosy, secluded and tranquil? In the hinterland at Neu-Sallenthin, you have a view of seven lakes – seven bodies of water at one time and a great deal of beautiful countryside. Enthusiasts return in the summer for a piece of homemade cake in the earthy Fangel forest house. You can see them all in one go from an observation tower not far from Bansin.

Romantic Retreat

Behind the resorts is where pure nature begins: extensive forests, fields, and lakes. In the Lieper Winkel, a peninsula between the Achterwasser and Pennestron in particular, you can still discover dreamy hinterland where the oldest church on Usedom can be found. The small Lieper house of God was mentioned for the first time in 1216. Small tip: There is good fish in the port of Rankwitz!

Famous Windmill

The around 150 year-old, finely restored Dutch windmill in the locality of Benz is a minor celebrity, because Lyonel Feininger made a portrait of it in 1924 – its likeness is hanging New York. In the original, with a little luck, you will find a delicious slice of freshly baked bread in addition to the view and a tour.

Art in the Green

The artist Otto Niemeyer-Holstein settled in 1933 at the Achterwasser between Koserow and Zempin and lived and worked there until 1984. Today, you can retrace his inspiration in the “Lüttenort”, his only studio with an impressive garden of art.
