The best place to see and hear classical concerts and theatre is in Potsdam, in the Hans-Otto Theatre and the Nikolai Hall, located behind a baroque façade where the Chamber Academy performs.
The Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival, the Potsdam Sanssouci Court Concert, the Potsdam Palace Night, the Potsdam Dance Days and the UNIDRAM Theatre Festival all have an impact on the cultural scene.
What’s especially attractive about these performances is the interaction between their content and the historical flavour of the city. City festivals such as the Bohemian weaving festival in Nowawes, the festival of lights in the Neuen Lustgarten or the tulip festival in the Dutch quarter also add flavour.
As 2006 is the "Year of the Architect" in Potsdam, there are many events with that theme taking place such as "Potsdam Courtyards", "255 Years of the Nowawes Colony", "Schinkel", "Palaces and Mansions in Fountain Walks Today", to name just a few.
