Resort hotel catering for quality tourism: As one of the first corporations in Germany, Travel Charme Hotel GmbH has dedicated itself especially to that.
The Travel Charme Hotel group with its head office in Berlin was founded in 1993. It operates a group of resort hotels that was acquired by the Schmidt Group of Essen/Duisburg that same year as part of the federally mandated program of privatisation. Prior to that, the hotels belonged to the GDR tourism authority. Around 250 million Euros were invested in the purchase, modernisation and new construction.
12 high-quality hotels of the four- to five-star superior class
From 2000 to 2008, the current Travel Charme Hotels & Resorts were gradually opened. Today Travel Charme operates 12 high-quality hotels of the four- to five-star superior class and is the only purely resort hotel corporation in Germany in the quality and premium segment. Under the umbrella brand name of Travel Charme, the Hotels & Resorts are located in Kühlungsborn, in Prerow on the Fischland-Darss peninsula, in Binz, Sellin and Göhren on the island of Rügen as well as in Zinnowitz, Bansin and Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom. Other locations are Potsdam and Wernigerode (Harz). The first resort hotel outside of Germany was opened at the Achensee (Tyrol) in Austria in 2005. In June 2008 the five-star "Hotel Is Arenas" has open its doors on Sardinia (Italy); Travel Charme Hotel GmbH thereby expands its offer for the first time to a location on the Italian market.
Leading position in the resort hotel business
An innovative concept and a consistent specialisation on quality tourism boosted the hotel group quickly to a leading position in the resort hotel business. The revenue increases of the last years (2007: 45.1 million €) and a steady increase of regular guests show that the chosen strategy has led to success. Furthermore the hotel group has been awarded the TUI Holly a total of 29 times since 2001. The Travel Charme Kurhaus Binz and the beach hotel Bansin on Usedom have made it to 1st place already and each have been voted favourite hotel in the world by about half a million TUI guests.
The Travel Charme Hotels "Gothisches Haus" in Wernigerode and "Am Jägertor" in Potsdam have been accepted by the renowned hotel society "Luxury Lifestyle Hotels & Resorts". Both hotels fulfil the most important requirements of the hotel society, which was founded in 2004 and currently encompasses 110 select hotels and resorts in 18 European countries.
Future - Expansion of the portfolio
The goal for the coming years will be to strengthen the Travel Charme brand by an even greater profile in the market in the long term. In addition to investments to be taken in the existing houses, the expansion of the portfolio plays a major role. In the next years, a continuous expansion is planed in European core regions. Preferred destinations are the holiday regions in Italy, Austria, Spain and Switzerland. Within the next ten years, Travel Charme Hotel GmbH will be present at attractive locations with about 30 hotels.
