Achensee in Tyrol: Discover the Diversity, perfect for wellness & spa

Achen Valley and Achensee Lake mark the border of the Karwendel mountains to the west.

The emerald green Achensee Lake holds 481 million cubic metres of water and is found in the middle of Europe’s largest nature reserve: the Karwendel Mountains.

That describes its physical dimensions. But it doesn’t come anywhere near describing the variety around, within and even, above the "Fiord of the Alps".

If you want to get closer to Heaven, climb a mountain. With the cable car, you can reach the relatively low Zwölferkopf Mountain. From there, paragliders use the excellent thermals to soar up into the air. For those who want to get even higher, there are numerous peaks that are higher than 2,000 metres that can be conquered either by climbing or hiking.

The best panoramic view of the lake is from the top of Bärenkopf Mountain. From there, you can see the landscape around Achensee Lake  in all its beauty. It is original and varied in winter as well as in summer, and it invites you to enjoy a variety of sports activities.
