Achensee in the Summer
Regal Visit
High above Jenbach stands Tratzberg castle, which was built in the year 1500 and was a hunting lodge for King Maximilian. Since 1848, the dukes of Enzenberg have lived there and they are always pleased to have visitors in the summer.
Mountain Biking
The outstanding trails around Achensee Lake are the reason why the 'Via Bavarica Tyrolensis’, which is the mountain bike route from Munich to Verona, runs through this region. The forest trail from Pertisau to Maurach is recommended as a beginner’s tour.
Cemetery Visit
There is a cemetery in Kramsach that is unintentionally funny. The saw tooth blacksmith, Hans Guggenberger, has collected headstone inscriptions from there, such as the following: "Here in this grave lie two miller boys, born at Chiemsee Lake, and died of stomach ache".
Flight over the Lake
It takes a bit of courage, but the reward is the indescribable glide over the peaks and meadows down to the lake. From the Erfurter Hut and the Dalfazalm, you can float like an eagle away from the cares of the day with delta gliders and paragliders.
Time Travel
You can feel really young in Risstal, when you hike through the forest of the Great Maple Plateau. That’s because there are around 2000 mountain maple trees that are more than 500 years old.
Appealing in Winter
Fun on Ice
Only a few steps away from Travel Charm Fürstenhaus Am Achensee, you can spin pirouettes on the ice or slide a curling rock right on the mark. And, you can do all of this against the grand backdrop of the snow-capped Karwendel Mountains. These are ingredients for a most beautiful winter fairytale.
Even More Crystals
If you want more than ice crystals, we recommend the Swarovski World of Crystals in Watten. Designed by Andre Heller, the building has imaginative room designs and breathtaking projections that are all focused on crystals, and it has become one of the most visited attractions in Austria.
Warming Drinks
Apples, apricots and pears can warm you up in winter, when they are turned into exquisite brandies. Franz Kostenzer has more than 40 exquisite brandies in his assortment. This superior distillery in Maurach is worth a visit. Our tip: The cigar brand is a delicacy almost like a single malt. Try it!
Expeditions into the Earth
With the treasures of the Schwazer silver mine, which was the largest mine in the 15th century, the Fuggers influenced European politics and the discovery of the new world. Today there is an exciting museum in the interior of a 400 million year old reef where you can’t mine any silver, but you can buy it.
Golden Innsbruck
There are pedestrian zones with numerous historical buildings in the old city. Especially worth seeing is the "Golden Roof", the 500 year old splendid oriole of the Neue Hof and the Hofkirche (court church) with the (empty) grave of King Maximilian. Innsbruck also has many opportunities for shopping - from Tyrolean specialities to fashion.
