Dining at Gothisches Haus: Exceptionally good. And beautiful too.

Fine cooking, an impressive selection of wines, and historic ambience.
Fine cooking, an impressive selection of wines, and historic ambience.

The "Witches", "Planks" and "Knights" chambers don’t have anything to do with your rooms. Here and in the basement vault you can discover the culinary diversity of the Travel Charme Gothisches Haus in a pleasant atmosphere full of light, colours, and comfort.

Bon vivants are always welcome here. If you enjoy being surprised by our chefs’ sophisticated creations. If you’re intrigued by good wines. And, especially if you appreciate our particular ambience. In both restaurants at the Travel Charme Gothisches Haus, “Die Stuben” and “Winkeller 1360”, as well as fine food you can also enjoy the unique atmosphere of our inspiring historic rooms.

"Die Stuben" – a place with ambience and dining culture. But first, a point about the kitchen itself – this is where the good old traditions are maintained in innovative ways.

Wernigerode’s lord councillors sat here as long ago as 1481; it has been an inn for more than 150 years and a hotel for the last century. Today, we’re proud to accept our good rating in the current Gault Millau. As our guest, you can look forward to culinary creations and classic dishes in a modern guise.

Why not see for yourself. Start with the substantial breakfast buffet in “Die Stuben”. Sample the excellent lunch menu too. The culinary highpoint of the day is in the evening – a menu of several courses or à la carte specialities in “Die Stuben”.

One other thing you should be aware of – “Die Stuben” derives its name from the several, partly historic rooms it comprises (“Stube” = a room). The Hexenstube (“Witches’ Room”), Ritterstube (“Knights Room”) and Bohlenstube (“Panelled Room", used as our gourmet restaurant) each have their own particular design; they provide attractive settings on various occasions, from intimate dinners for two to small private parties. Even the atrium, which connects each of the rooms, makes its very own traditional impression; it is flanked by a magnificent half-timbered
facade of carvings, which you can feast your eyes on while dining. It’s a successful synthesis of historic and contemporary elements, a perfect setting in which to savour our mouth...

In our wine restaurant "Winkeller 1360", which also includes the historic vaulted cellar, we await you in the exquisite, rustic ambience with  light, nouveau cuisine that goes well with the extensive selection of choice wines.

A truly special venue: the “Winkeller 1360”. If you’re a wine buff (or would like to be), you’ll find this is the best place to pursue your interest.

The ambience. What better place to have a fine wine restaurant than in an historic vaulted cellar? Here you can savour the best wines and food at rustic style wooden tables by candlelight and subdued lighting. It’s cosy but classy.

The cuisine. The menu is limited but very select. Nonetheless, you’ll still find it hard to make your choice. We serve light, contemporary style cuisine with its own inimitable flavours.

The wine. Choose from selected German wines and varieties from all the major European vineyards to grapes from overseas – our list has over 100 wines. What’s special is that most of these wines, even the exclusive drops, are available by the glass. Which should please the wine buffs and intrigue the amateurs.
