Does Rügen make you happy?

You can see that it does. And as a cook, without a doubt! You see, there are so many tasty fresh products here, which guarantee the greatest enjoyment for our guests

 

Do you mainly prepare regional dishes?

Let’s put it this way: We use first-class regional products for a Euro-Asiatic symphony for your senses. Meat from Schwarzkopf-Texel lamb, which graze on Rügen’s salt meadows, has a great affinity for curry, for example. It isn’t a wild blend, rather a slightly new accent for a known treat. We only take that which really goes well together. Wood garlic pesto from the island harmonizes outstandingly with Mediterranean dishes. This is the best of the best of international cuisine.  

 

Where do you like to shop the best?

We buy regional meat specialties from the Rügen Bio-Hofgut Bisdamitz. Then, there are a few other good locations, for example, the Peters family in Polchow, a tiny place at the Jasmund Bodden. They have been fishermen since 1888. When father and son catch wild salmon in the Baltic Sea and you can forget all cultivated salmon. Or, towards the end of May and the beginning of June, they bring in horn fish, which is a very tasty fish with green bones. And the Bodden pike-perch, the cod, and herring mustn’t be forgotten…

 

Go on and admit it: A connoisseur like you likes to snack too!

I could miss out on a lot, but I don’t. We have two pastry cooks who make the finest cakes and sweets each day. I can only say that a Kurhaus cake is a dream…
