Holidays in the Harz Mountains
Holidays like a Fairytale
Nature and Culture all around the Brocken
At the intersection of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia is the highest mountain range in northern Germany - the Harz Mountains. Dense mixed, mountain spruce and primeval forests, deep valleys, streams and mountain lakes as well as bizarre rocks invite you to explore and discover the varied natural scenery. Surrounded by unforgettable natural scenery, the Harz National Park with its centrepiece - the Brocken - offers numerous hiking and cycling tours.
Exciting museum tours take you through Wernigerode® Castle, which sits above the town and guarantees a wonderful view. The narrow-gauge railway takes you from the starting point in Wernigerode up to the Brocken, which at 1,141 metres is the highest mountain in the Harz and Saxony-Anhalt.
On the edge of this dreamlike natural landscape lies Wenigerode, the "colourful town on the Harz". In the old town with its winding alleys you will find countless historic half-timbered buildings with magnificent, colourfully painted carvings. Special gems are the town hall, the market square and the Gothic House.
The "Leaning House", a former fulling mill and the "Smallest House", with a living space of 8 square metres, are just a few of the impressive architectural monuments.
Our tip: Take an exciting tour during dusk with a night watchman through the old town and learn mystical stories and experiences from a time long gone.
The Harz Mountains offer a variety of sights and attractions - let yourself be enchanted and spend a wonderful time in the mystical Harz Mountains.
