Skiing and snowboarding
The 27 km of well-groomed ski slopes are particularly popular amongst families and winter sports connoisseurs. Enjoy fast and sporty runs, cruise down the mountain at a leisurely pace, have fun in the snowboard park or try New School Skiing – Werfenweng ski resort is a small but sweet area with something for everyone.
Equipment is available to rent directly from the in-house sports shop "Sport Alpin". You can view the sports shop website here and it is also possible to sign up for courses and activities. Ski passes, including full-day, half-day and afternoon passes, are available at the hotel at discounted rates.
IKARUS cable car – skiing fun on 22 km of pistes
The large part of Werfenweng ski resort can be easily reached on the free ski bus from the village centre. You can enjoy fantastic slopes located between 1,830 and 1,000 metres above sea level. The 17 km of red pistes, 2 km of blue pistes and 3 km of black pistes make for a great skiing holiday and there is also a fun park for snowboarders and freeskiers.
Rosnerköpfl Dorfbahn lift – from the village to the ski resort
The new Dorfbahn lift makes it possible to reach the ski resort from right next to our Bergresort – no need for a car or bus. Great panoramic views await in winter just like in summer.
The new kids snow park at the "IKARUS"
8 themed routes, a chill-out zone, a toboggan run and a covered magic carpet spread over 8 hectares in the Zaglau Arena in the main ski area. Highlights: the parallel race, speed race, wave track, forest run, snake run, ninja warrior track, fun jungle run, Graffiti Park and Graffiti Chillout Area.
Sunny Kids and Star Kids in the village centre
The children's ski school offers an over 5,000 m² Kinderland children's area, 3 magic carpet lifts for children, 1 kids' carousel, a children's lounge, lunchtime supervision, an 8-seater gondola ski school lift, a magic show and much more.

Cross-country skiing in the Salzburg region
Cross-country skiing is one of the healthiest sports and it exercises the whole body. The well-developed network of trails in Werfenweng offers extensive opportunities for both classic cross-country skiers and ambitious skaters.
Paid cross-country ski trails:
Eulersberg trail: 8 km long, starts at the village square, intermediate
Panorama trail: 6 km long, starts at the village centre, intermediate
Eulersberg skating track: 3 km long, starts at the village square
Wengerau skating track: 9 km long, starts at the village centre, intermediate
Wengerau trail: 9 km long, starts at the village centre, intermediate
Cross-country skiing courses
Beginner courses: Mondays and Tuesdays at 9.30 am
Advanced courses: Tuesdays at 1.30 pm and Wednesdays at 9.30 am
Cross-country skiing courses can be booked at reception. Rental equipment is available from the in-house sports shop.
The samo card:
Cross-country equipment rental and use of the cross-country ski trails is free of charge for samo card holders.
Winter hiking and llama trekking
Numerous winter hiking trails offer fantastic panoramic views that will be etched into your memory for a long time to come.
Every Wednesday at 7.30 pm, you can enjoy a torch-lit hike through stunning winter scenery accompanied by the hiking llamas. This is, of course, also free of charge for samo card holders.
Wengsee lake also turns into a true paradise in winter. You can skate there in the sun or by floodlight. And if you start to get a little chilly, you can enjoy a warming mug of tea or mulled wine right by the lake. Skate rental is free of charge for samo card holders.
It is well-worth admiring Werfenweng from above in winter too. Experience the sensation of soaring "as free as a bird" over the mountains. Tandem flights are offered between December and Easter and, if you get a taste for flying, you can also learn how to fly solo. Launch site: Bischling mountain.
Horse-drawn sleigh rides
Explore snowy winter landscapes and discover the romantic side of Werfenweng while snuggled under warm blankets on a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
€ 75 for the small sleigh (1-5 people)

The samo card:
One free carriage ride is included for samo card holders. Rides are possible on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm from the village square. Duration approx. 1.5 hours including a short stop.
The heavenly Spazierhimmel trails in Werfenweng
The new "Spazierhimmel" walking trails opened in autumn and are great for winter walks. The trails offer fabulous views of Werfenweng and the Salzburg region.
Various toboggan runs await for lots of sledding fun. You can take the lifts for an easy ascent or enjoy a hike up through the snowy forest. It is definitely worth it for the exciting ride down.
Köpfl-Flitzer toboggan run: 1200 m long, daily from 9 am to 4 pm during the ski season
Tennenblick toboggan run: walking time approx. 20 min
Sonnseit’n Hochmaisalm: walking time approx. 45 min
Children's sledding hill: walking time approx. 10 min
Strussingalm toboggan run: 6 km long, free toboggan rental for samo card holders
Floodlit night tobogganing is possible at the Köpfl-Flitzer on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 pm to 10 pm.
The samo card
Samo card holders are, of course, also entitled to use the numerous eco-friendly vehicles and elois electric taxis for free in winter. If you hand your car keys in at reception of the tourist office and pay a small protection fee of € 10, you are helping to protect the environment and can take advantage of the following services free of charge:
