Hiking

Our Ifen Hotel is nestled in the Alpine landscapes of the Kleinwalsertal, a paradise for hikers wishing to explore the Vorarlberg region. Look forward to a versatile network of hiking paths that spans more than 180 kilometres and offers leisurely walks, stunning Alpine trails and taxing hikes to the summit of the Hoher Ifen and other mountains. We know how to make hikers’ hearts sing! Explore the mountain landscapes surrounding the Ifen Hotel at an optimal altitude between 1,000 and 2,536 metres – either on your own or as part of a guided tour, that is offered by our mountain guide Stefan several days a week (a general hike or a themed tour of the area).

Several times a week Kleinwalsertal Mountain School offers guided tours and shows you the most beautiful spots within the Kleinwalsertal mountains. Take in splendid views, experience nature, forget your everyday worries and take a deep breath of our crystal-clear air, then retreat to a rustic mountain inn for refreshments. Ask our staff at the Ifen Hotel for individual recommendations.

By the way: the Kleinwalsertal is one of the only Alpine valleys where you can explore two countries in one hike. Thanks to its unique location on the Austrian-German border, crossing from one side to the other is straightforward.

More seasoned climbers will enjoy the popular Mindelheimer or 2-Länder route. Whichever adventure you choose, you will always be rewarded with magnificent views of the mountains. Cycling and mountain-biking

The Kleinwalsertal is a brilliant holiday destination for cyclists and mountain-bikers. The choice is yours: a leisurely cycle, a challenging day out on the mountain bike or a guided tour with an experienced local. No matter which you pick, incredible scenery is a given. With rental services widely available, feel free to leave your own bike at home or have a go on an e-bike for a change. Besides hearty refreshments, the countless inns of the Kleinwalsertal mountains also offer bicycle service stations. We are pleased to offer route advice as well as a locked room for your bike.

Summer cable cars & Walser bus

Whether a leisurely hike with the whole family or a challenging MTB tour on your own: the summer mountain railways always serve as a comfortable climbing assistance. As an overnight guest at the Ifen Hotel, you can use all eight summer mountain railways and lifts (from around the beginning of May to the beginning of November) in the Kleinwalsertal/Oberstdorf region free of charge - and as often as you like.

Just leave the car in the garage during your holiday at the Ifen Hotel? Of course! With your guest card, the AllgäuWalserCard, you can take the Walser bus through the Kleinwalsertal free of charge. The "Ausserhirschegg" stop is right on the hotel premises. This saves you from the search for a parking space and additional parking fees.

Please note the respective operating times of the mountain railways and the bus timetables. We will be happy to inform you.
