Bad Gastein wins twice: Straubinger ensemble wins Tophotel Newcomer Award

The two Travel Charme Group hotels in Bad Gastein were initially among the four finalists for the Tophotel Newcomer Award in the 'Hotel Reopening Leisure' category. Now, they have jointly taken first place and can claim the title of the best newly opened leisure hotel in the DACH region. The top newcomers of the year were announced at the Tophotel Day in Königstein im Taunus. The Tophotel Newcomer Award is already the third major industry award for the Straubinger Grand Hotel and the neighbouring Badeschloss. As a result of their successful redesigns last autumn, the two hotels each won a LIV Hospitality Design Award and Platinum at the London Design Awards for their exceptional architecture.

The architectural combination of history and modernity in the Straubinger Grand Hotel and Hotel Badeschloss creates a contemporary and equally appealing hotel experience that sets the framework and standard for service level, quality and comfort. With its decision, the jury of the Tophotel Newcomer Award honoured this tasteful revitalisation of the listed buildings and their elegant combination with modern building elements, which has succeeded in revitalising Bad Gastein. In his laudatory speech, HGK CEO Urban Uttenweiler emphasised: "This is not just about one or two hotels. Nor is it just about a location - but about a destination. It is the resurrection of a lost place, a Belle Epoque skyscraper location in the Alps, whose decay has come to an end since 2018 with the construction of new hotels." The jury stated: "The open hotel concept of the two hotels recognises the buildings both in their uniqueness and as an ensemble. While the old grandeur has returned to the Straubinger Grand Hotel, the neighbouring Badeschloss flirts with bathing culture - this blend impressively demonstrates how history can be preserved and at the same time complemented with something new.
