Munich, April 27, 2023 - From May 1, 2023, reservations can be booked in one of the most spectacular hotel projects in one of the most fascinating locations in the Alps. The Hirmer Group is entering the final construction phase before the opening of the tradition-rich ensemble, Grand Hotel Straubinger and the Badeschloss, in Bad Gastein in the fall of 2023. On the newly launched websites www.travelcharme.com/en/hotels/straubinger and www.travelcharme.com/en/hotels/badeschloss, previews can be viewed for the first time. Guests can already reserve the first rooms and suites and witness the desired renaissance.

Two hotel icons in one setting
The Straubinger, built in the mid-19th century, and the Badeschloss, opened at the end of the 18th century, form the heart of Bad Gastein. Both are centered in a place of extremes, from valley to peaks with over 3,000 meters of altitude. Emperors and princesses such as Emperor Franz Josef already resided in these time-honored buildings. Additionally, the ensemble gained importance in world politics when in 1865 the Gastein Treaty between Prussia and Austria was concluded here. After a long period of vacancy and an extensive revitalization by the Hirmer Group with the aim of preserving the original charm of the traditional houses, Hirmer Hospitality announces the opening of the two hotels for the fall of 2023 and highlights its first previews.

The facts
Open year-round, the five-star Grand Hotel Straubinger at Straubingerplatz has 46 rooms and suites overlooking the Gastein Valley and the imposing waterfall. Gastronomic facilities include a restaurant, wine bar and café. The spa includes an outdoor pool, a relaxation area, two saunas and six beauty and massage rooms.
The four-star Hotel Badeschloss am Straubingerplatz, with its 102 individually decorated rooms and suites, is open year-round. With its annex, a tower situated on a slope and waterfall, it blends harmoniously into the alpine setting. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, a community table, and a phenomenal kitchen. There are also a castle and a fireplace bar with a library. The Roof Top Spa features a spa and outdoor infinity pool, as well as three saunas.

Preserving history and dignifying it with new elements
True to the design principle of "working with the layers of the past", the renowned Viennese architectural firm, BWM Architekten, has developed a sophisticated hotel concept. It goes beyond the mere buildings, reviving the splendor of Straubingerplatz. Behind the imposing facade of the Grand Hotel Straubinger, the grandeur of the "beautiful era" unfolds. Historical references including the presence of renowned guests fill the historic premises with life, as does the zeitgeist of the 21st century.
"Dip a little deeper" is the motto of “Badeschloss” built in 1791, because the fascinating stories of the bathhouse start on the surface but go deep under the skin. The cultivated bathing culture of great personalities is now reinterpreted with a cosmopolitan worldview and flirtatious
lightness. Humorously and in color, a lively, communal place is created. The special atmosphere in the house is underpinned by the sound of Bad Gastein's iconic waterfall, which is directly adjacent.
"Bad Gastein is a unique, fascinating place of contrasts. With the opening of our two properties, Hotel Straubinger and Badeschloss, in the fall of 2023, we want to revive the grace of the destination while creating a place for new stories. We are creating a place of community and a place of exchange where guests and locals alike are welcome," says General Manager Michael Posch, describing the concept of the two iconic hotels.

Bad Gastein - where the soul of the past resides, and the heart of a new begins to beat.
Bad Gastein, as a source of eternal youth, has always been a place for cosmopolitans, visionaries and people who shape the spirit of the times. The long tradition of the town in the Gastein Valley in Austria, which is part of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is located at the foot of the Graukogel mountain, finds its beginning as a bathing resort in around 1350. Between the middle of the 14th century and the middle of the 16th century, Bad Gastein was mainly known for its gold and silver mining. In the 19th century, parallel to the end of gold mining, the spa industry took off and along came the hotel development. Prominent visitors from all over the world wrote the stories of a community known for its thermal springs, especially in the Belle Époque. The central meeting place was and still is the Straubingerplatz with its impressive hotel ensemble, including the Grand Hotel Straubinger and the Badeschloss. The renaissance of Bad Gastein is now ushering in a new era for tourism in the region.
