Fun on the piste with skis and snowboard

Tradition that obliges: The 15th Alpine World Ski Championships were held in Bad Gastein back in 1958. Even today, the Sportgastein ski area offers fun on the slopes for freeriders at an altitude of up to 2,650 metres.

In Bad Gastein you have direct access to two ski areas - Stubnerkogel and Graukogel. Both can be reached by regular ski or public bus, the bus stop (Wasserfall) is in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. We are happy to help with information on the bus timetable or to book a taxi. We do not offer a shuttle to the ski area.

Buses also run from the railway station in Bad Gastein to the Sportgastein ski area, approx. 30 minutes away.

Selected ski areas in the region:

  • Sportgastein ski area
  • Graukogel ski area (challenging natural snow runs)
  • Dorfgastein-Großartal ski area (family-friendly ski area with panoramic views)
  • Snowpark & Funslope Gastein (perfect for snowboarders and freestylers)

Cross-country skiing & winter hiking

For those who prefer to enjoy the winter wonderland in peace and quiet, the cross-country ski trails in Bad Gastein, Dorfgastein, Hofgastein and Böstein offer ideal conditions for short or long tours.

Numerous winter hiking trails also invite you to discover the landscape without skis. A special treat is the summit breakfast in Sportgastein. After a guided hike and gondola ride, you can start the day in a romantic way.

Tobogganing fun & husky experience

Ready for the thrill of speed? Start either at the Bellevue Alm or from the Schlossalm (natural toboggan run "Aeroplan") for your speedy ride on two runners through the snow-covered Alpine landscape.

A special kind of toboggan ride awaits you in Sportgastein. Instead of horses or reindeer, huskies are harnessed to the sledge. Experience the magic of winter on a dog sled ride through the snow-covered forests of the surrounding area.

Wildness frozen to ice

Beginners are also welcome on guided ice climbing tours at the frozen waterfalls. Less high up but still very close to victory is curling in Bad Gastein. Guests of all ages can enjoy hours of fun in sociable, playful competitions.
