Holiday in Kühlungsborn

Arrive, relax, enjoy.

Radiant blue skies, the finest sand, the best food and a great range of shops, too! The Baltic resort of Kühlungsborn spoils visitors with a well-balanced mix of nature and culture, relaxation and activities. Do you enjoy strolling along a sandy beach? Then the long beach promenade will be perfect for you. The historic buildings, featuring typical spa-style architecture, look particularly impressive. From piano days or a trip to the art gallery to a gentle stroll around town – you will find whatever kind of relaxation you are looking for in the seaside resort of Kühlungsborn.

Seeing and beeing seen

The beach promenade in Kühlungsborn is one of the most beautiful on the entire Baltic coast and is ideal for walking in any weather. It’s not only a great way to discover the region’s many different facets, it’s also a quick route to the well-known and popular Kühlungsborn yacht harbour, which attracts numerous visitors every day.

In the wide streets not far from the beach, small boutiques tempt you to browse and go window-shopping. Every visitor will find a suitable way to pass the time here while enjoying that special holiday feeling.

Nostalgia at the Bäderbahn

The light railway departs from Kühlungsborn and meanders its way, hissing and steaming, to Bad Doberan via Heiligendamm. The ‘Molli’ Bäderbahn railway transports you to another era. The steam locomotive chugs along the narrow track through the streets and alleyways, past the white town of Heiligendamm and heads along the cliffs, tooting and clanking and giving off a good amount of steam! The 900 mm narrow-gauge railway has been an iconic tourist attraction since 1976 – but its journeys to Bad Doberan actually started back in 1886. You can treat yourself to coffee and cake on board as you enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. .

Fresh fish beeing served directly to your table

Kühlungsborn is perfect for restaurant-lovers and quality connoisseurs, as it has a wide range of restaurants able to conjure up delicious dishes using fresh produce. As the marina is so close by, the fish is freshly caught from the sea. Do you want to enjoy culinary highlights and acquaint yourself better with the local cuisine and products? Then try out a few places and experience the Kühlungsborn quality for yourself.

Tip: how about dinner and a drink with a direct view of the sea and the beach promenade?

From Picasso to Dali, from guitar to piano

Kühlungsborn and culture – is that possible? It certainly is! It’s not just the nature and architecture that impress here: artists from all around the world come to the Baltic resort every year. From a guitar festival to piano or jazz days, or even a beach event and various exhibitions: if you’re looking for cultural experiences, then this is the place to be. The Kühlungsborn Kunsthalle hosts seven to eight exhibitions every year.

Not a fan of museums and the like? Then plenty of restaurants and bars have live performances almost daily – and therefore combine good food, art and a sea view in a unique way. Anyone who fancies getting involved themselves can take part in one of the many creative classes. Be inspired – and then take the result home with you!
